Most often our brethren of other denominations accuse us by saying "Catholics do not read the bible"; "Catholics do not know the bible"; "Catholic clergy hide the truth of the bible from their congregation" and so many other similar criticisms. Anyway, I don't blame them when they don't know the true history and use of the bible.

Survivors of  "Hiroshima!" by Father Hubert Schiffer, SJ Early on August 6, 1945, a lone American B-29 super-fortress bomber circled in a vividly blue sky over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The unsuspecting inhabitants on the ground barely glanced at the plane. They were unaware of the deadly payload it was about to unleash on them, ushering in the atomic age with unimaginable death and destruction.

On July 27, local bishop Luis Infanti came to the prison in Coyhaique, located in the Aysén Region in southern Chile. He gave the letter to Nicol, a young mother who is being held there. The story began last year, when the inmates at Coyhaique prison were visited by the Apostolic Nuncio, Ivo Scapolo, who proposed that she write a letter to the Pope that he would personally deliver to him.
