IMPLICATIONS OF STAYING AWAY FROM THE HOLY COMMUNION.

From the earlier post(Understanding The Holy Eucharist.), we saw that the Holy Communion which we receive in the Mass is truly and wholly the body and blood of Jesus Christ, our saviour. So many are yet to believe this. Of course it is a mystery and therefore you can't comprehend it. Do well to understand the little arithmetic you do in the classroom before you bother to comprehend God's greatness and mysterious nature.

Christ is love and life. We draw life therefore from him directly through the Holy Communion - Fountain of life.
Imagine closing your nose, with your mouth close
Are you not already gasping for air?   Are you not panting already?
The suicide you commit to your soul begins with this like step when stay away from the body of Christ. You choose to leave Christ who's your source  of life; close him from entering your soul for days, weeks, months and even years? Do you expect your soul to live? Your spirit will die of course.
And when you have a dead spirit:
1. You become vulnerable to any form of mortal sin. Venial sins are already routine programs on your daily plans.

2. You become a cheap prey to Lucifer. Satan torments you easily and you become almost hopeless.

3. You become the most unhappy human being on earth. You begin to hate yourself. Anger becomes your companion.

4. You will even become ashamed to face righteousness. You, who are supposed to be a light set on a hill for all to see now becomes darkness itself.

Staying away from Christ in his Body and Blood (Eucharist) bring calamities not limited to the ones mentioned above.
Out of his great love for man, he has given his Church everything. The Sacrament of penance is there, so that we might love him as he has loved us.
Christ is love indeed!!

DAILY REFLECTION: SATURDAY, 16TH DECEMBER, 2017

SATURDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OFADVENT TIME (Year II) First Reading: Sir 48:1-4. 9-11b Psalm: 80. R. v. 4 Gospel: Mt 17:9a. 10-13 The first reading of today reminds us of the great prophetic power of Elijah. He was a prophet feared by the people of his time. His deeds were wonderful and frightful. He called down fire from heaven, brought famine upon the land, and shut the heavens. The Jews feared and respected the prophet Elijah. According to the prophet Malachi (4:5-6), Elijah was to come before the Messiah. This was the reason why the disciples of Jesus while coming down from the mountain of transfiguration asked him of the coming of Elijah who was to come before him as prophesied by the Prophet.

DEATH IS A CERTAINTY.

"It is appointed unto men once to die."(Hebr: 9:27 The sentence of death has been written against all men: you are a man; you must die. “Our other goods and evils,” says St. Augustine, “are uncertain; death alone is certain” (Serm.97, E.H.). It is uncertain whether the infant that is just born will be poor or rich, whether he will have good or bad health, whether he will die in youth or in old age.
